Developing high and low value supply chains in Ghana
Objective: The Trade and Investment Program for a Competitive Export Economy projects seeks to develop the supply chain systems needed to strengthen the high-value horticulture crops of pineapple, papaya, mango, vegetables, and cashew. These crops are strong growth opportuntities and major income earners for the rural population. TechnoServe is working at the four major levels of the horticulture supply chain-smallholder farm, nucleus firm, industry, and market- to increase export earnings and reforming the Ghanaian policy and regulatory landscape to facilitate private sector opportunities. Results: Project-assisted firms exported 25,368MT of horticultural goods valued at $11,405,139. More than 2,600 rural households have directly benefited from these efforts.
