Improving agricultural production across Morocco
Morocco’s economy depends on agriculture, but the sector needs to perform at a higher level to seize the opportunities offered by the U.S.-Moroccan Free Trade Agreement. Chemonics helps Moroccan farmers and agro-processors become more competitive by helping them improve production, processing, marketing, and logistics and to better integrate various value chains. The project helped develop a quality label for a highly prized, yet under-marketed breed of lamb from the Oriental region of Morocco, resulting in contracts with high-end distributors. Chemonics plans to further enhance competitiveness to increase incomes, create jobs, and modernize agricultural production.
