Creating environmentally sustainable high-value agricultural production systems

The Honduras Farmer Training and Development Activity Project (FTDA) is a program of the Millennium Challenge Account of Honduras ( MCA -Honduras),funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the United States, to sustainably increase the profitability of men- and women-owned agribusinesses, thereby increasing overall rural incomes and employment opportunities. While the FTDA program focuses its efforts on providing direct on-farm production (extension) assistance to farmers, it will work with businesses along the farm-to-market value chain in market identification and development, postharvest systems, business development services and skills. Through FTDA activities, Honduran farmers will show significant increases in productivity and incomes, rural communities will see substantial new employment opportunities, and the Honduran horticultural sector will have made substantial progress in its transformation from traditional agriculture to environmentally sustainable high-value production systems.
