The International Organization of Standardization ( ISO ) developed the ISO 9000 series as a management system that provides a framework that can be applied to the management of any type and size of organization. The series addresses areas essential to the identification of customer satisfaction and the establishment of a management system to control the quality of an organization's products or services. The system is designed to be generic and applicable to all organizations and products.

Conformity Requirements

ISO 9001 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization

  1. needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements, and
  2. aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

All requirements of this International Standard are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size and product provided.
