- UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) - The UNWTO /OMT is a specialized agency of the United Nations and the leading international organization in the field of tourism. It serves as a global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how. UNWTO plays a central and decisive role in promoting the development of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism, paying particular attention to the interests of developing countries.
- The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) - TIES is the world's oldest and largest international non-profit ecotourism association which aims at uniting conservation, communities and sustainable travel. It seeks to be the global source of knowledge and advocacy uniting communities, conservation, and sustainable travel.
- Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) - GSTC is a coalition of over 40 organizations working together to foster increased understanding of sustainable tourism practices and the adoption of universal sustainable tourism principles. The Partnership, which was initiated by Rainforest Alliance, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Foundation, and the United Nations World Tourism Organization ( UNWTO ), launched the Sustainable Tourism Criteria at the World Conservation Congress in October 2008. These criteria will be the minimum standard that any tourism business should aspire to reach in order to protect and sustain the world’s natural and cultural resources while ensuring tourism meets its potential as a tool for poverty alleviation.
- DestiNet – Sustainable Tourism Information Portal - DestiNet is a tourist destination information service that supports networking of various sustainable tourism stakeholders. DestiNet is jointly administrated by the European Environment Agency (EEA), ECOTRANS a European network of experts and organisations in the tourism sector, the United Nations Environment Programme ( UNEP ), and the World Tourism Organization (UN WTO).
- International Center for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) - The ICRT at Leeds Metropolitan University is a post-graduate training and research centre. The ICRT has played a leading role in the responsible tourism and hospitality movement through research and development work with industry and Government.
