- World Agroforestry Center (known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry, ICRAF before 2002) - ICRAF is an international institute focused on the sustainable management, protection and regulation of tropical rainforest and natural reserves. ICRAF conducts research in agroforestry with a view to developing more sustainable and productive land use, particularly in the developing world. It is one of the 15 international agricultural research Centers supported by the CGIAR.
- International Tropical Timer Organization (ITTO) - ITTO was established under the auspices of the United Nations in 1986 and is an intergovernmental organization promoting the conservation and sustainable management, use and trade of tropical forest resources. ITTO develops internationally agreed policy documents to promote sustainable forest management and forest conservation and assists tropical member countries to adapt such policies to local circumstances and to implement them in the field through projects.

- International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) - IUFRO is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists, which promotes global cooperation in forest-related research and enhances the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests and trees.
- Association Technique Internationale des Bois Tropicaux (ATIBT) - The ATIBT is a non-governmental organization whose goals are to organise and rationalise the tropical timber trade, with an increasing involvement in sustainable management of the tropical timber industry.
- United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) - The UNFF is an intergovernmental policy forum to promote “…the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and strengthen long-term political commitment to this end”.
- FAO Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) - The CPF is a voluntary arrangement among 14 international organizations and secretariats with substantial programmes on forests (CIFOR, FAO, ITTO, IUFRO, CBD, GEF, UNCCD, UNFF, UNFCCC, UNDP, UNEP, ICRAF , WB, IUCN). The CPF's mission is to promote the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forest and strenghten long term political commitment to this end.
